About

Dean is a PhD student and academic tutor in the Department of Molecular Sciences (Bioinformatics Group) at Macquarie University. His current area of research is on genome annotation and genomic analysis of insects, especially those of agricultural significance. His background is varied, with studies across organic chemistry, quantum physics, and mathematics.  He enjoys bringing an interdisciplinary approach to his work, aiming to produce something that is more than just the sum of its parts.  He also loves teaching, and takes great pride in helping students improve. When he’s not thousands of lines deep in code, he enjoys reading, watching Netflix, and bring a pro at Mario Kart.
