Indigenous Science Education Program (ISEP)

Past Events

Since 2005, the ISEP team has organised and run a number of different science based activities for Indigenous students. They are designed and implemented in close collaboration with partner schools and communities to ensure that they are interesting, relevant and fun and provide leadership skills for the Indigenous students involved. The activities include the Macquarie University Science Experience (MQSE) and Science Shows at Macquarie University, local schools and in rural communities. Until 2006, the activities were focussed on High School students of northern NSW, but since then, with the support of the Department of Education and Training (DET) Western Sydney Office, these activities have been extended to Western Sydney schools, and to primary school students. All activities, including associated travel, food and accommodation, have been provided at no cost to the students, their families and the Aboriginal Education Assistants.
